There shall be two (2) classes of members of the Society:
1. voting members and;
2. non-voting members
Voting members are identified as Individual Members and Honorary Members.
Non-voting members are identified as Corporate Members and Associate Members.
Applications for membership will open early in 2025 and will be applicable for a calendar year, e.g. 1 January 2025 to 31 December 2025.
To be eligible for Individual Membership an applicant should meet the following criteria:
academic and/or scientific qualifications in the field of blood transfusion and related disciplines; and/or
active and practical work in the field of blood transfusion and related disciplines; and/or
a distinguished figure in the field of blood transfusion and related services.
In order to qualify for an Honorary Membership an individual must be a natural person(s) who have rendered distinguished services to the Society or the general field of blood transfusion and related disciplines in Africa.
Any Individual Member or Honorary Member of the Society may nominate candidates for Honorary Membership by written notice to the Society.
Profit companies and other commercial juristic persons which support the Society by a minimum annual grant, shall be eligible to be admitted as Corporate Members of the Society. The minimum annual grant level is determined by the Board.
Except for preference being given to Corporate Members at commercial exhibitions held at Congresses organised by the Society and an acknowledgement of their support by publication of their names in appropriate publications, no further rights and/or privileges shall accrue to them.
Corporate Members will accordingly have no voting rights or powers of nomination.
Non profit companies and other non commercial juristic persons which support the Society by a minimum annual grant, shall be eligible to be admitted as Associate Members of the Society. The minimum annual grant level is determined by the Board.
Any non profit company or other non-commercial juristic person who is interested in becoming an Associate Member will have to complete an application form for this purpose. The application form is available on request from the Society.
